About me
Sailing isn’t just something I do – it’s how I’ve built my life.

I’m Noam, a professional skipper and sailing instructor based in the Azores, where I’ve been living for over 10 years.
Over the past two decades, I’ve worked at sea in many different roles – from marine science expeditions to offshore security operations, from luxury charter catamarans to long-distance yacht deliveries across the Atlantic and European waters.
But what has stayed constant is this:
a deep connection to the ocean – and a passion for sharing it with others.
Experience at Sea
I hold an Offshore Skipper license (Patrão de Alto Mar) and have spent years sailing in a wide range of conditions, including multiple Atlantic crossings.
My work has included:
- Yacht deliveries over long offshore passages
- Private charters and skippered experiences
- Operating sailing catamarans in the Caribbean
- Supporting scientific marine expeditions
- Working in high-risk offshore environments
These experiences have shaped how I approach sailing today: calm, adaptable, and always focused on safety and awareness.
Teaching & Sailing Philosophy
Alongside skippering, I’ve been actively teaching sailing – running weekly sailing classes and working as a sailing instructor.
For me, teaching is not about theory or ticking boxes.
It’s about helping people:
- Feel comfortable at the helm
- Understand the boat and the environment
- Build real confidence through experience
Whether you’re joining to learn or simply to enjoy being at sea, I aim to create an environment that is relaxed, hands-on, and grounded in real sailing.

Why the Azores
The Azores are one of the most unique sailing environments in the world.
Living here for over a decade, I’ve come to understand how dynamic and rewarding these waters can be. Around São Miguel and routes toward Santa Maria, conditions are real, landscapes are dramatic, and the experience is far removed from typical coastal cruising.
This is why I base my sailing experiences here.
Because the Azores are not just beautiful – they’re alive.
What You Can Expect
Whether you join to learn or simply to enjoy the experience, you can expect:
- A professional and safety-focused environment
- A calm, patient, and experienced skipper
- Real sailing, adapted to your level and interest
- The freedom to participate – or to simply take it all in
And if you’re curious, you’ll always be encouraged to step in, take the helm, and become part of the experience.
Final Note
Sailing has taken me across oceans, into remote places, and through very different conditions.
But what I value most now is sharing that experience –
in a way that feels real, accessible, and connected to the sea.
