Service Description

A hands-on journey between islands—learning through real experience at sea. A 5–7 day immersive sailing experience designed for those who want to build confidence, gain real offshore experience, and develop practical sailing skills through hands-on learning. The Sailor’s Passage is more than an introduction to sailing. It is a true learn-by-doing experience between São Miguel and Santa Maria, where you become part of the crew and learn through real situations at sea. Whether you are completely new to sailing, already have some experience, or even hold a license but want to build confidence and practical skills, this passage is designed to meet you where you are. Cross open Atlantic waters, experience real blue water sailing, stand night watches under star-filled skies, and gain valuable time at sea in changing conditions. Depending on your experience level and goals, you may take part in: Helming and sail trim Sailing manoeuvres and boat handling Docking and marina approaches Anchoring techniques Weather forecasting and decision-making Route and passage planning Navigation and situational awareness Watch systems and night sailing Sail balance and boat management For aspiring skippers or licensed sailors wanting more real-world experience, this is an opportunity to move beyond theory and build confidence through practical seamanship. Along the way, discover secluded anchorages, enjoy time ashore, and experience the stunning white sand beaches of Santa Maria—a rewarding contrast to the open Atlantic passages between islands. You arrive to learn. You leave with experience. **What’s Included** Included in your booking is exclusive use of the boat for up to 6 guests, ensuring a private and comfortable experience. Also included are a welcome drink (beer or soft drink), snacks (local Azorean treats), water, fuel, skipper service, and all taxes and fees. For multi-day charters, meals and restaurant arrangements are not included and must be pre-arranged in advance
